URGE FOR GOING- Joni Mitchell/ Crosby and Nash

  D C D
I awoke today and found frost had perched on the town
 D C D
Harbored in a frozen sky and all the summer down
G F
And when the wind turned trade and cold
 G F E
And all the trees are shivering in a naked row
 D C D
I get the urge for going but I never seem to go

CHORUS:
       C G D
And I get the urge for going
            C G D
When the meadow grass is turning brown
           C G D
And the summertime is falling down
          C G D
And the winter's closing in

I had a girl in summertime with summer colored skin
And not another man in ten my darling's heart could win
When the leaves fell tremblin' down
(Bullies wished (?)) to rub their faces in the snow
She got the urge for goin', I had to let her go ...CHORUS

Now the warriors of winter give a cold triumphant shout
All that stays is dying, all that lives is getting out
See the geese in chevron flight
Laughing and a-racing off before the snow
They got the urge for going and they've got the wings to go ...CHORUS TWICE

NOTE: I don't have a copy of the Joni Mitchell version since its so rare-
I only know the Crosby-Nash version. Perhaps someone with the Michell
version might be able to pick out some of the words that I couldnt quite
catch.
(according the the CSN box set liner notes, the song was written by J.M.
in the mid sixties but not released by her until 1972 as the b-side of
You Turn Me On, I'm a Radio. The Crosby-Nash version was done in 1971 but
not released until the CSN box set came out a few years ago)
